I’ve been putting extra effort into my at-home hair care routine since the world shut down a month-ish ago. I actually had a haircut booked the very same week my salon (find ’em on Insta, too!) was forced into temporary closure. Ugh.
While I decided to grow my hair to lob-length, my ends could seriously use a refresh. Not to mention I’m carrying a lot of dead weight—I can’t wait to have it thinned, too! (Hands up if you also have a love/hate relationship with your thick hair).
In any case, as far as my mane is concerned, I’ve put my focus into what I can control and that’s care.
My at-home hair care routine is as follows: wash no more than twice a week, blow-dry, then style with a flat iron or curling iron. When it comes to products, here’s what I use and how I use it:
- Live Clean Argan Oil Restorative shampoo and conditioner: I buy on Amazon but it’s available at drug stores, too. Oh and P.S., Live Clean is a Canadian brand!
- AG Reconstruct mask: I use this every other wash, after I shampoo and before I condition. I leave it on for about five minutes, though it can be left on much longer if needed.
- AG Deflect heat protector: I use this before I blow-dry and before I use a flat iron or curling iron.
- Mon Platin Oriental Oil: I usually use a few pumps after I blow-dry my hair. After I heat style with hot tools, I use one or two pumps only and concentrate on tending to my ends.
Side note: keep in mind I have thick hair that needs A LOT of moisture and slurps up products like it ain’t nobody’s business.
